The Azawakh is a breed of Oriental Greyhound family in Europe. As Windhhund he is lively and needs according to the outlet. At first, he is a grown dog often shy and reserved, but when dealing with him he is affectionate and playful.

HAIR:
Short hair and belly part without hair.
COLOUR:
Light and dark shades of sand, red and brindle. Usually a white chest and paws. On the legs to color stains can form. The head can have a black mask.
HISTORY:
The name of the breed comes from the Azawakh Valley, which lies on the border of the states of Mali and Niger. Nomads from the region have kept this breed for hunting, watch and guard dog. Other breed has otherwise not exist in this region. This is a typical country race. In the more northern, located already in the Sahara regions of the distribution area also the name Osca (noble Greyhound) is used. Since the Berbers are in the area with economic change less and less, the stock of Azawakh held as a hunting dog, is always lower.

Kastrierte Hündinnen sind auch nicht weniger glücklich und friedlich als nicht kastrierte. Am Wesen ändert eine Kastration meiner Erfahrung nach nichts! Ich persönlich würde eine Hündin nur dann kastrieren lassen, wenn es notwendig ist (Gebärmutterkrebs, ständige Scheinträchtigkeit, unkastrierter Rüde im Haus usw... ).
Wenn kein wichtiger Grund vorliegt, warum sollte ich dann eine Hündin kastrieren lassen, ausser ich bin faul und mag nur Hunde die keinen Dreck verursachen. Dann sollte man sich aber so oder so keine Hunde anschaffen.
